I crossed
The Pacific Coast Highway
I jumped to the sand
And
I ran
I ran south on the soft pebbles
As fast as I could
I leapt from the jetty
Into the tide pools
Watching families look
For
Life
Starfish
Sea anemones
I kept running
Until I had to swim
Shallow blue green water
Awaited me
Full
Of crabs, lobster
And
Eels staring at me
I kept swimming
Until
I reached
A
Manmade shore
And then
I walked
Home
Utterly spent
The sea had embraced me.
