Adrift at sea
In a leaky life boat.
Alone.
Does this sound familiar?
Can’t imagine why.
There are loads of us floating out here.
We even bump into
Each
Other
From time to time
Often actually.
In fact the seas
Are
Littered with us.
Oceans lousy
With capsized castaways.
Sometimes
When the water is calm
We sing together
But
As time passes
That intimacy is less.
Check your rations.
Try to do what’s right
Not
What’s popular
You may live longer
Or shorter
But
You’ll die happier.
Singing in the round
Made you happy as a child
Now everyone wants a solo.
Where’s the fun in that?
Some of us are stronger swimmers,
Some of us have athletic faith.
But
When adrift at sea
You may be surprised
At who survives.
