The ocean
Is 15 different colors today.
The wind mixing it up
With a palate knife
The clouds showing off like a preening supermodel.
The sky fighting for
It’s regular starring role.
Palm trees waving
Like a Pantene commercial
Fronds like hair glistening from the rain.
And the rain?
The rain is already bored
With
Southern California.
Soon it will leave
And allow the mud
To reprise it’s character actor status.

The sun is the star here;
Just as beautiful, manipulative and petulant
As an actress in her prime.
The ocean is far more interesting
With nothing to prove.
It’s the great one.
So dust off your raincoat for a day
and
Ready your spf for the morrow.
