At sunrise
And sunset
The sun
And the moon
Meet
To catch
Each other
Up
On their existence.
The ferocity
Of the heat,
The intensity
Of the pull,
All accepted –
Then forgotten.
For its just the passing
Of time;
Once it’s happened
It’s happened,
Then it’s gone.
So much
Worry
So much
Fear –
Then it’s over
Then it’s gone.
Discussing the memory,
Licking the wounds,
Laughing at the scars.
A curtsy,
A wink of the eye,
A hug,
And a kiss
Goodbye
They pass each other
With a knowing nod
Happy to be able
To try
Again.
It’s in the trying
That comes
The doing
Eventually…
With luck…
Or at least a lesson
Is learned.
So wear a dashing hat
In the day
And close
The curtain
At night.
Watch them rise
And fall
But never look
Into their
Eyes
Directly
Or you
Will go
Mad.
