Sailing Spanish galleons
manned only by one.
capsizing in 3 feet of water
swimming to a coffee-house on an inlet
manned by gypsies
full of Swedes
terrified but right at home
i realize that managing the
unmanageable
is how we survive.
not only do we survive
we learn to live
and live well.
sometimes better than before
the capsizing.
grappa dreams with
salty skin.
draw your blade
and
into
the jungle
we go.
Damn,,,that is good.
My brian is on the open sea!
I really warm to the theme here – “managing the unmanageable is how we survive” – and I love the image of the imaginary Spanish galleons and plunging into the jungle with blades drawn too. A great little poem – I’m glad I came upon it!
Hey thanks- it was from a wild dream I had that stuck with me. Probably reading too much Medieval lit.
